The cost is £10 per person for each of the workshops and you can attend any one, or all of them.  These workshops are for people who have thought about writing poetry but didn’t where to start, or for those who would like to re-energise their writing.

Jan 26th: Stars and candlelightWinter is a time for hibernation and for looking inside ourselves. It is when new life is being formed though we cannot always see it.  Does the drawing out of natural light affect the interior landscape of our minds? In this session, we’ll have fun exploring this thought.

Feb 23rd: Seeds of new poems– How can ordinary experience be made extraordinary? In the quirky moments of the everyday, opportunities arise for creativity. We will look at how to create sub-text out of the apparently mundane . We will look at juxtapositions and metaphor. Concentrating on process will lead to new work and fresh ways of thinking about a poem.

March 23rd Writing the Self A chance to use your own memories and life story to create poems that are both personal and universal without letting the truth of what really happened spoil a good poem. Everything from old addresses, shoes, photos, food, toys, books, grannies, aunts, fathers. You should take back home with you a small bundle of new poem- starts.

What to expect:  Please bring a notebook and pen or pencil.  Tea and coffee will be available. The meetings are intended to be friendly and relatively informal. Let’s start at 2pm and end at 4.15pm with a tea break in the middle.

To book or for more information, please use the Contact Form below to send me your name and details. I can then send you my address and directions to the venue. I’ll ask you to please post £10 in advance which is returnable if the workshop has to be cancelled or postponed for any reason.

Spaces will be limited to about 12. I will email you directions or post them to you.

Please let me know as soon as you possibly can if you do book and then find you can’t come. If the space can be filled your fee will be returned. There may be a waiting list. (Cross fingers for good –enough weather.)

Plenty of parking available.
