Lighthouse, A Journal of New Writing, is a beautiful and exciting literary magazine published by Gatehouse Press. I’m incredibly proud to have a poem included in this issue (8). It is so cool on the outside… and then when you open it there’s something about it makes me feel all excited as if I am a child again about to enter a world of story with a blotched treasure map to be found inside. It must be the magical font: IM Fell English. That, and the paper they have chosen which is all grainy and the page-edges look as if they have been handcut. It smells properly of book as well. I haven’t had time to read it all yet but the few poems I have read are remarkable. I must get on with it right now….. thought you might like to know about it so here is the link where you can download a free supplement (but not this issue).

Congratulations, Becky. And I love your description of the magazine itself – the feel, look & smell of it. I found the font… oh yes, I like it – it goes with that hand-cut feel that you mentioned. http://www.pickafont.com/images/fonts/large/i/IM%20FELL%20English%20Roman%20SC.ttf.png
Oh, thanks Elly. Nice to see it…. I wonder how come it is so very attractive! Reminds me of getting under the bed covers with a pirate story or something like that with a treasure map!
Well done Becky! Lighthouse has never liked anything I’ve sent them 😦 but they do at least reply promptly!!!
Thanks, Robin. I was, tbh, a mite surprised about my poem!!!! I am sure they will do! Cheers, Becky
